Prof. Ali Kashif Bashir, Manchester Metropolitan University, UK
He received his PhD in Computer Science and Engineering from Korea University, South Korea and his MS from Ajou University, South Korea. Before that, he had a Bachelor¡¯s degree in Computer Science from the University of Management and Technology, Pakistan. He was an Associate Professor at the University of the Faroe Islands, Denmark from 2017 to 2018. From 2013 to 2016, he was with Osaka University, Japan as a Specially Appointed Research Scholar. At Osaka University, he worked with NICT (The National Institute of Information and Communications Technology) and NTT (Nippon Telegraph and Telephone) to propose pioneering solutions and architectures in cloud computing and data centres. He was also with the National Institute of Technology, Japan as a visiting professor. Between 2012 to 2013, at the National Fusion Research Institute, South Korea he worked on one of the world¡¯s biggest projects named ITER (International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor) which aims to produce fusion energy by 2050.
Ali has delivered over 40 invited and keynote talks at the International Conferences in the UK, USA, Denmark, France, Japan, South Korea, Pakistan, India, China, and Morroco, such as at IEEE Infocom 2022. Ali has chaired around 45 international conferences and workshops, such as at IEEE Globecom, IEEE iCCECE, and ICCCN 2021. He is an expert reviewer of EPSRC, UK, Irish Research Council, Ireland, National Sciences and Engineering Research Council (NSERC), Canada, MITACS, Accelerate, Canada, Qatar National Research Fund (QNRF), Qatar, and Academic Adviser Commonwealth Scholarship Program, UK.
His research includes the internet of things, network communication, cyber security, distributed systems, machine learning and smart infrastructures. He has published over 200 research articles. Most of his works are published in the top 10 per cent of ISI indexed Journals. His research has received a lot of attention as well. In 2021, he is recognized as the third most cited author in the IEEE Internet of Things Journal. He has a strong track record of attracting industrial related grants through Knowledge Transfer Partnerships (KTP). Accumulatively, he has obtained over 2.5 million pounds of funding from the European, Asian and Middle Eastern funding agencies.
Ali is a senior member of IEEE, an invited member of IEEE Industrial Electronics Society, and a member of IEEE Communication Society and ACM. He served/serving as an editor in several international journals including Scientific Reports, Nature, IEEE Transactions on Industrial Informatics and IEEE Transactions on Intelligent Transportation Systems, etc. Since 2017, he is serving as the EIC of IEEE Technology, Policy, and Ethics.
Prof. Pushpendu Kar, University of Nottingham Ningbo China, China
Dr. Pushpendu Kar is an Assistant Professor in the School of Computer Science at the University of Nottingham Ningbo China (China campus of the University of Nottingham UK). Before this, he was a Research Fellow in the Department of ICT and Natural Sciences at Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU), Norway, the Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering at National University of Singapore (NUS) and the Energy Research Institute at Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore. He has completed all his PhD, Masters of Engineering, and Bachelor of Technology in Computer Science and Engineering. He also completed Sun Certified Java Programmer (SCJP) 5.0, one professional course on Hardware & Networking, two professional courses on JAVA-J2EE, Finishing School Program from National Institute of Technology Durgapur, India and UGC sponsored refreshers course from Jadavpur University, India. Dr. Kar went for a research visit to Inria Paris, France. He was awarded the prestigious Erasmus Mundus Postdoctoral Fellowship of European Commission, ERCIM Alain Bensoussan Fellowship of European Union, and SERB OPD Fellowship of Department of Science and Technology, Government of India. He received the 2020 IEEE Systems Journal (2020 I.F.: 4.463) Best Paper Award. This is one of the seven papers out of 793 papers [top 1%] that have received the award. He also received travel grants to attend conferences and doctoral colloquiums. Dr. Kar has more than 10 years of teaching and research experience, including in a couple of highly reputed organizations around the world. He worked as a software professional in IBM for one and a half years. Dr. Kar is the author of more than 30 scholarly research papers, which has published in reputed journals including ACM TAAS, IEEE TNSM, IEEE Systems Journal, IEEE Sensors Journal, Journal of Building and Environment, conferences including ICC, TENCON, IECON, and IT magazines. He is also an inventor of four patents. He has participated in the program committee of several conferences, worked as a team member to organize short term courses, and delivered few invited talks. He is a regular reviewer of IEEE, Elsevier, Wiley, and Springer journals and conferences.
Prof. Ajay RoyLovely Professional University, India
Prof. (Dr.) Ajay Roy received the Engineering degree from West Bengal University of Technology, and the Ph.D. degree in wireless networking from Dr. B. R. Ambedkar National Institute of Technology, an Institute of National Importance under the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Govt of India, Jalandhar, India in 2016. He is currently associated with Lovely Professional University as a Professor. He has published many research papers in refereed journals/conferences. He has guided six Ph.D. scholars and currently guiding five Ph.D. scholars. His areas of expertise include embedded systems, robotics, wireless sensor networks, the Internet of Things, and machine learning. He is an internationally acclaimed keynote speaker at several international conferences and a resource person in national/international faculty development programs and short-term training programs for faculties and students.
